Doesn't work with USB flash and micro USB port

I was trying to use this adapter to connect a flash drive to my Android phones (Moto G5 and Galaxy S7) connect edge). A flash drive is connected on one side and a USB-micro-USB cable on the other. Both phones did not recognize the connection. This plug is unusable for me, I sent it back.
