Review on Swissmar Borner Power Mandoline V 7000 by Barb Franz

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Mistakes are critical to this cook

I've had this mandoline slicer for 7 years now and today I'm almost ready to throw it away or give it to charity. ADVANTAGES: 1. It's sharp.2. Easy to clean.3. After cleaning, the blades close tight enough that you don't have to worry about accidentally cutting yourself when it's in the fully open drawer. CONS: 1. A piece designed to push the victim into the blades is not as effective. I've found that the best way to do this is to put on a cut-free glove, throw some salt over your left shoulder, pray, and gently slide things into the blades. 2. There are rubberized grip ledges on the ends that are designed to grip the rim of pots, pans, plates, etc., but the space between the V where the blades meet and the end of the mandolin is what grips it all , what your prey needs to catch is so short that everything is outside of the jar, that it grabs the end of the jar and throws everything on the counter, floor, etc. There is basically no section thickness setting. I understand there are 3 pros and 2 cons so you would think it should equate to 3 stars anyway, but these cons are so much a deal breaker that it doesn't equate.
