Nippon Kodo is quality. As soon as you open the box you can see the quality. The inside of the box absorbs moisture to keep the incense fresh. (put a drop of water on the inner surface and it will swell) Inside, the incense sticks are neatly packed. Each wand is precision made to ensure they are all packaged the same way. As other reviewers have noted, the incense is not held by the "wand". There is only pure incense. Who would want to smell anything but pure incense? Speaking of smell, I don't think I've ever found incense to be fragrant. You get pure incense, no burning wood. In a small box at the end of the package, there is a ceramic pillow with a hole to hold incense sticks upright, which should be placed in a ceramic bowl or tray. As other reviewers point out, sticks are easy to break. If you're a little careful and use a ceramic pad, it's not a problem. But to top it off, Nippon Kodo publishes a packing list that proudly displays all of the fragrances, 18 in total, as well as the addresses and phone numbers of the Tokyo and Torrance, California offices.
