Update. Surprisingly it didn't help at all with this issue but by contacting the seller directly they were quick to replace the item for me. However, the overall quality of the product still feels very unreliable for a lockable box. Attention buyers! I ordered 4 identical plain black file lock boxes but when I opened the box I had 2 plain black as ordered and 2 with AC/DC Back in Black symbols on the side. First I used a number drop down when ordering, so all 4 MUST be the same. Second, this AC/DC version isn't even listed as a color option/choice, so I'm not even sure how anyone could think that's acceptable, or what I want for HALF an order. Also, unfortunately, one of the two that arrived correctly has a locking mechanism that doesn't work properly and now won't open, rendering this box totally unusable. I was planning on using them for work but I wouldn't waste my time on this product as the material used seems extremely fragile considering it's supposed to be a safety feature. Currently I can only use 1 of the 4 sent and this whole process was very tedious as even the return process would be difficult as these are large bulky items. Overall I am very dissatisfied with this whole purchase.
