Review on KMN Home DrawerDecor Customizable Organizer by Jack Watkins

After all! A knife display case that (name celebrity chef) can be proud of!

I love this item! My friend is a chef and he has more knives than I have shoes (so a lot). I'm more of a fixated organizer and not a chef at all, so kitchen cabinets and drawers can be a source of contention for us; mostly because he's one of those people who prefers to keep each item on a regular page so it's easier to find (you can feel the eye roll). Since without his cooking habits I would probably be severely malnourished on a diet of eggs, frozen mini wheat, and ice cream, I do my best to satisfy my desire for cleanliness and order while also keeping the kitchen functioning. just as he needs it. Hence the KMN DrawerDecor Organizer! His two favorite knives are totally unacceptable in a firewood box, wooden knife block, magnetic knife bar, or anywhere else. If they could levitate in a vacuum tube that would be awesome. I've been looking everywhere for a vacuum tube and came up with this drawer organizer instead. This was considered reasonably acceptable. For example, there were no verbal comments, but I sneaked open the drawer a few times and chuckled to myself when I saw that the valuable knives were safely tucked in their places – in my house, that's a gold medal. I think it's a great concept. The rug was a little shorter than my drawer and I only cut two square strips across the width, which wasn't enough to make up for the back space, but it doesn't matter. I actually had one of those big turkey carving knives with a little fork (no chef actually, sorry), in a sheath that fit perfectly in the unfrosted spot at the back of the drawer. It touches the edge of the mat so it doesn't slip at all. It took me a while to figure out the best way to place all the knives. I wanted to make sure all the blades were pointing in the same direction to reduce the risk of cuts, this was a bit difficult due to the different blade sizes. but i got it I used spacers between the knives to keep them together. It also made it a little more difficult because to fit the knives in the drawer I had to rest the knives on the edge of the spacer and not on the drawer and some knives were too wide to do this without touching them . . After putting everything together I used small triangular pieces under each knife blade to keep them level (the closer to the knife handle the better, it keeps it more balanced and easier to remove). I was a bit concerned about the knives (they are very sharp) cutting into the rubber pads or mat, but I accidentally ran them across the rubber a couple of times and saw no damage. I'm sure if there was pressure they would cut through, but overall I think they're pretty cut resistant. In general, I spent too much time on it. But that's because I'm a perfectionist, not a flaw of the product. I still had spacers but ran out of space in the drawer, but they might come in handy in another drawer. I plan on buying more of these crates for other crates, but I'm waiting for now as we're moving soon. My only suggestion is that it would be great if there was more variety in the sizes of spaces and triangles. Longer, shorter, narrower, wider, taller etc. And I could definitely use bigger and wider triangle shapes. I love the variety that comes with the set, but if there were more options available separately I would definitely be interested! This product seems expensive and maybe a little obvious, but impossible to replicate. Just think about it, it keeps things from sliding around, provides a space for everyone regardless of size, and is fully customizable. I can't think of any other way to organize a drawer with all these features.

Pros
  • Easy to clean back; Simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth or rinse in the sink
Cons
  • Hard to say
