Review on Medline Grey Shower Chair Bath Bench with Back πŸ’Ί - Supports up to 300 lb: Reviews, Benefits, and Features by John Lewis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

By far the best and safest of the three chairs I've tried!

I wanted my disabled wife to have the safest bathing chair so I bought three different chairs to compare. Two were OasisSpace Heavy Duty shower chairs with and without backrests (rated at 500 pounds) and one was a Medline shower chair with a backed bath bench (rated at 300 pounds). All have aluminum tube legs. The OasisSpace chairs have an extra sacral brace, but the legs go straight up and down making them VERY unstable and prone to tipping backwards if you move to wash while seated in them. All OasisSpace chairs come with numerous thumbscrews that are very awkwardly shaped, making it difficult to assemble and tighten the screws on the chair. The back of the chair is also small and uncomfortable. It took me about half an hour to assemble the OasisSpace chairs as I had very poor instructions and was very painful to use thumbscrews of slightly different unmarked metric lengths bundled in one package. The Medline chair took me no more than 5 minutes. assemble because it just snapped together. It does not have an additional cross brace on the legs, but the legs are turned outwards, which makes the chair more stable. The back and seat of the chair are also larger and much more comfortable to sit on. The Medline shower bench with backrest also has an antimicrobial coating that is said to prevent the growth of mold and mildew. Both chairs are made from similar materials, but the Medline Shower Back Bath Bench is designed much better and safer. And it's actually a few dollars cheaper than the Oasis chair. I don't trust the suction cup handle that comes with Oasis chairs because it's only as good as the surface you attach it to and can become loose over time between uses. Remember that all chairs are made from aluminum tubing and if you rock them back and forth while washing, the tubing may come loose or eventually bend and break. The screws are all galvanized and will rust over time. In summary I have been married for 44 years, love my wife and will NEVER let her use one of these Oasis chairs.
