Review on BaveL Steel Spokes: 36pcs Mountain Bike Spokes, 270mm-280mm with Nipples - MTB Essential by Chad Rosier

Spokes are what I really rely on when building a wheel. I have used them before in the past and love how the impeller has turned out. So when I got an approved Schwinn World Tourist for which I found a customer who really wanted this bike, I jumped on board. The bike originally came with 27 1 ¼ wheels, but we went with 26 x 1 ⅜ wheels instead. So using old hubs from 27" wheels for 26" wheels I first looked up the effective ERD rim diameter to determine the spoke length and after all the math I came up with 274mm but I have a few millimeters off pulled off the spoke. length and chose 269 for the right side and 270 for the left side on the front and rear wheel. These spokes did the trick, the only problem is that they are off by 1mm, which can be good or bad. So if you need say 271mm, add a mm and buy 272mm and so on, at least with Bavel spokes. In my case when I bought the 270 I got 269mm when measuring, which didn't make much of a difference to me. I also bought the 271mm which again turned out to be a 270mm which again didn't make a huge difference to some people can make a huge difference. which I understand if you know the exact length you need. But I have found that no matter the brand like Bavel or DT Swiss, there is always an error of 1-2mm. If you hate it when something is just 1-2mm off, it might be a good idea to custom make your spokes using a spoke cutter and threader. It's more expensive, but worth it if you build a lot of wheels and need custom length spokes. In my case I don't see any sense in this investment as the error of 1-2mm doesn't bother me, even 1mm doesn't matter much but on the other hand I can understand if it belongs to another wheel manufacturer. These needles did the job and proved perfect despite the 1mm error. I would buy these needles again.
