These spokes come with 14mm nipples. Make sure your needles are the right size. I needed 2mm shorter than the needle calculator gave, otherwise I ran out of thread when pulling. The black coating is color only and will be erased when laced up and especially when pulled. I've used them on one bike for several months with no problems.
