Wildfires in California can cause smoky days for many months. Unfortunately this is a common occurrence every summer now, so this was written by a wildfire survivor (who lives in a burnt forest). When being outside (and breathing) is unhealthy, having air purifiers at home is very helpful. These filters are the easiest to replace and are inexpensive. I vacuum them about once a week but change the ash filters about once a month just based on my visual inspection. I didn't wait for the car to flash and tell me I needed to change the filter.
