This is a beautiful, strong and durable pure wool rug. It's very hard, so it's great for modeling / wool modeling / 3D needle felting. The needle doesn't go deep into the pad, so I've found that I don't stick my pieces into my regular foam pads. (I still like the high-density eco-foam pad for flat (2D) felting, aka wool painting. The foam holds a flat image better, for more accuracy.) But this natural wool pad is dense and makes an excellent protective pad. . My needles don't stick or dip into them without intentionally sticking them. So the felting is more focused on the wool object, not on a wool base. It's natural so there's some vm (plant material) there but I'm used to using natural heartwool with vm so I like to see that I know the wool is minimally processed. I just use tweezers to pull out any bits I don't want to leave stuck in there (which is rare). It took me a while to get used to such a hard felt pad, but now I love how the needles barely penetrate when felting my wool figures and 3D models. The pillow is of high quality, very strong and durable. which I don't want to get stuck in (which is rare).
