I have a surface book that I use as a desktop after my old desktop suddenly died. Since the Book only has 2 USB ports, I also bought a docking station with four additional USB ports, but I use one of the USB ports on the Surface. I also have a fairly old 15 pin monitor. I bought this device to convert my monitor's connection to a mini USB connection for use by a docking station. I needed other USB ports for a keyboard, monitor, mouse, and external storage device. I decided to give this unit a try before investing in a new monitor. Nothing usually works out of the box, but this connector worked great. My monitor's display is clean and I've saved money I would have spent on a new one. I would give this plug 10 stars if I could.
