While I love the convenience of these wide venting mason jar lids compared to other food fermenting options available, one of my three lids broke after just one use. I can see the light clearly through the center of the vent valve which means it's completely useless because it can't prevent oxygen from getting into my ferment. I was excited after my first batch of kimchi came out perfect, so I quickly made another. I hand washed the Easy Fermenter Lids thoroughly and placed them on the prepared ingredient jars. I didn't notice any problems with any of the lids until day 5 of fermentation. Obviously the silicone vent gasket was poorly done because the center itself was missing and I honestly don't know where it went. It could have been in the jar, but more than likely it "turned up" and ended up on my kitchen counter somewhere. The missing piece is so small I'll probably never find it. I have ordered 4 more caps hoping that the next order will be of much better quality. I will update this review after receiving and using it. Update 11-2-17: I have increased my rating to 5 stars. Apparently the lid I received with my first order was torn. Ever since then, I've had no more issues with the interchangeable lids and I've been making delicious organic kimchi batch after batch! This product is the easiest to use, clean and adjust and forget about it. Highly recommended. Sincerely, Stereoman
