I think I wrote the first review on this product and my two star rating didn't go down well with the company who quickly sent a long email saying to let them know. As my initial concerns about the above design flaw were not allayed and I may or may not have a second issue, I have decided to rewrite my entire review to better explain my experience and thus clarify my two star rating ; I wasn't scared at all, it was a heartfelt email. I felt I wasn't specific enough so here are the details: Me: I commute twice a day between work and home to work in Brompton, about twenty minutes each time. I originally bought a set of Serfas lights when I bought the bike four years ago, for the same price but with only 10% light. Due to the lack of space at either end of the "lineโ, my bike folds up when not in use, requiring me to turn off the light, particularly the rear one by the seatpost. I've safely thrown Serfas in the same back pocket on two different versions of the Brompton S bag, although the first bag had much smaller pockets but held more content. When loading, I had about 80 minutes of work from Serfas, which meant four trips between weekend and Wednesday loads or loads. But Serfas, especially the red ones, started having trouble charging after a while and I realized the bike lights were way, way brighter now so I looked elsewhere and that's when I spotted these shiny suction cups here. I can really see what I'm about to move! And at night, when the bike path is dark, people dressed in black. I was so impressed with the brightness of my original lighting, particularly the headlight, that I ordered a second set within a week. I also recharged them from a completely drained one and got about 180 minutes on a charge on the first set that first week. It was just before the darkest time of the year so with lights on twice a day which worked for me Monday morning to Friday morning as they went out just before I got to work - I expected this to happen as I wanted . see how far I can go between charges. Impressive. Very impressive. I should note that, apart from a short drive through an almost unlit park at the beginning, my drive is completely urban and fully lit, so my headlights are more of a guarantee of cars seeing me (mostly in front of me, coming in). same direction). way) that could tip me over or suddenly swerve onto a bike path to double the parking space. The second set arrived and as so often I ran into problems. First and foremost, the switches are flush-mounted with a slightly raised button. They're pretty easy to turn on, so much so that they can be turned on by slipping them in the pocket of your bag, it turns out. The red lights are a bit more stable in both cases, they have a different design but still the same problem. In contrast, the Serfas switch is under a rubber cover and requires a good amount of pressure so they never accidentally trigger. (red or white) with either of the two sets I bought. Because my bag is often left unattended for more than an hour at work and even longer at home, if a push turns on the light, it either stays on until I find it, or the power just goes off, both have happened. However I had these brand new lights fully charged and had to recharge them during the day because they were on in my bag and the power was running out to the point that I didn't want to risk driving in the dark or so they left them on the way home. And then the second, more recent release, the charge itself. When connected to the mains, the switch glows red until fully charged, then light green. When unplugged and reinserted into the bike, the switch turns light blue when charging and changes to a dull red when discharging (with significantly dimmer headlights). I marked the new flashlight with a piece of tape to distinguish it, and the second flashlight never took as long to charge as the first, which charged for the first time; until then I was having trouble getting them in my bag so it was hard to tell. strange thing; After fully charging them on Friday night and then putting them on the bike on Sunday night, I turned them on and found they were both red not blue after spending the weekend on the turned off kitchen table. But the next morning both were blue (fully charged). However that night the first traffic light turned red and went out due to lack of electricity before I got home. As far as work goes, I've since started wrapping it in a Turkish towel, which reduces space in the main compartment of my bag, but that seems to prevent it from turning on, although I'm not sure. The charging issue is so new that I can't yet tell if charging is working as I'm still unsure if the lights are off when not in use. The company says previous complaints have been that the lights were too difficult to turn on. to turn on, so they simplified them --- too simple when they can be turned on in a tote bag. The last issue I had was that the headlights don't fit snugly on my bike's handlebars, which may be thinner in diameter than others (I don't know if that's true, but they don't fit securely). I had to wrap tape around the strips to increase the diameter so the lights stay on after we've driven down one of our bumpy roads. Another design flaw, like if they had rubber strips on the tail light, which the Serfas have, that wouldn't be a problem. and tape problems. Three stars mean satisfaction and I'm not satisfied. I have two expensive sets of lights that I have to pack in a towel so they don't turn on in my bag, and if I don't and therefore don't realize they were on, I might be driving. imperceptible to distracted drivers. When they're working they're great---they're BRIGHT, very, very bright. When they're both flashing, you can see the cars correcting course as they start turning onto the bike lane. I love this brilliance, it makes me think I'm not going to die at the hands of some idiot in the car while I'm cycling to work. But if I can't rely on that brightness based on the switch design, why would anyone expect anything more than two stars?
