Review on Duex Extender Portable Monitor: 13.3" 1920x1080P 60Hz, Blue Light Filter, T7000 Compatible by Jake Cleveland

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Too dark, especially for such a weight

Even at 100% brightness, the contrast between my laptop monitor and the Duex Plus is noticeably different. I figured I was trading weight for image quality. You can settle for the extra ounces if that means a brighter, sharper monitor. On the plus side, it was pretty easy to install. But I think the instructions weren't very well written. I may be as bright as this monitor but the instructions seem clear to mount it in the center back of my laptop screen. I did, and when it's fully extended, a small portion of the Duex's screen is still blocked behind my monitor. I need to take the magnets out (hoping it doesn't damage the back of my laptop) and move them closer to the edge of the side I'm using my monitor on. The easy part of the setup was that this product was almost ready to use. I didn't have to download any software. I just plugged it in and plugged it into my computer. Moments later I had a second (albeit dimly lit) screen. It started out as a mirror of my existing screen, but a quick fix in the display settings took care of it. Another problem was that the exit point for the cursor would be at the top of my laptop screen, but would intersect and end at the bottom of my Duex screen. By simply changing the position of the Duex in the monitor's display settings, near-perfect alignment could be achieved. My laptop has a 15 inch screen and that may have been part of the backup issue. But I clearly read here that it can be used with even larger laptops. I'm still undecided if I would recommend it to anyone. I only use it one day. For now, I'm giving it a very generous 4 stars. This can change in all directions. , although.
