Great addition to any retro gaming rig

Retro gaming is more than just the games themselves; The controller is part of the experience and that part completes that experience. Although there's a lot of stuff crammed into this thing, it retains the old form factor from the 8-bit and 16-bit days while still containing enough buttons to cover the comparisons for most classic consoles. In fact, I think it covers the full range of mapped controllers for the XBox controller (which is also its driver of choice). The general build quality also seems pretty solid. I've dealt with some terrible low-end controllers where the plastic felt cheap and the buttons were so rigid they were useless, but that's not the case here. If anything, given its layout, the controller looks like the first manufacturer's hardware to have used a Nintendo PlayStation. when you need to reach for L1/R1/L2/R2. Modern controllers require things like a steering wheel or ergonomic shoulder buttons, but I find that tight control is only an issue when you're running games that make extensive use of the full layout. I also found that while I like the minimal fuss of a plug-and-play USB controller as opposed to Bluetooth, the cable is a bit too short for my liking. I have a dedicated gaming system hooked up to my TV that ideally could be a foot longer. Overall I am happy with this controller. Sure, it's arguably a little too compact in its limited layout, and it's not as comfortable or ergonomic as today's modern offerings, but it's a nice way to complement the console gaming experience of days gone by.
