Out of the box, these skills smelled like permanent marker. It looked like brown permanent marker was coloured on each skull.The remote control works well and is definitely convenient. Takes batteries. Unsure how long wach set of batteries will last for this. We turned them on nightly for maybe 2 hours for about 2-3 weeks.Purple lights were a nice purple color. Gave off enough light without being day time.
