Review on Winegard LNA-100 Boost TV Antenna Amplifier - HDTV Signal Booster with HD Digital VHF UHF Amplification - Indoor Ultra Low Noise Amp (USB Power Supply) by Tony York

Stronger signal, works well (including objective measurements)

The amplifier cannot receive more channels than your location and the antenna cannot deliver. Personally, I don't like purely subjective reviews that state that there is no "reception improvement" and then conclude that the amplifier is defective. With that in mind, my review added objective before/after strength/quality measurements using HDHomeRun software. I am using a Channel Master CM-4228HD VHF/UHF antenna and a SiliconDust HDHomeRun Connect tuner. The stations are 30-60 miles away from me. Measurements were taken day and night under clear skies. No splinter. Before: 10 strong channels (>90% performance, 100% symbol quality) 6 weak channels (no less, random dropouts) 2 unacceptable (nothing) After: 3 went from weak to strong 1 went from unacceptable to strong 1 went from unacceptable too strong weak 3 stayed weak (better strength but no effective change) Signal strength increased significantly on all channels (all 90%+), with Univision being the most dramatic from 16% to 100% - from almost unobservable to fully usable. So it's definitely working, but that strength didn't necessarily result in them being observable since 3 was still weak anyway. A corresponding increase in "character quality” is also required. According to the manufacturer, the use case is to partially increase the strength of boundary signals, but to a greater extent to boost the signal at the antenna to overcome signal losses in cable runs and other devices. subsequent passive splitter. I think he does it well. It won't magically solve all your reception problems and will inevitably introduce some noise into the line (typically 1dB but can vary with frequency) but I think it's a good choice for those working with a similar midrange . Distance. Anything more and you need a high gain amplifier like the Channel Master CM-7777. Any stations closer than 10 miles and a repeater can make the channels too strong. The device itself is designed for indoor use, is made of plastic, has a mini-USB connector on one end, and mounts in-line between your antenna and TV. /Tuner. For outdoor use you need a Winegard LNA-200 Boost XT or Channel Master CM-7778. Note that these others, at least according to their own specs, introduce more noise into the signal (up to 3dB).
