THIS MODEL IS BETTER THAN THE NEW MODEL

I don't have the new model but I know all the features of the old model and the new model are the same except for one important aspect that was important to me. This model uses AA batteries. The newer model (SX 170) uses a proprietary rechargeable lithium battery that costs $46. When buying a small compact camera with a large zoom range, I spent days comparing prices, megapixels, zoom lenses and the costs of necessary accessories. I like the Powershot SX in this group because while it's small and light, it still has a "grip" that makes it easier to hold. The ranges I looked at all but one used proprietary batteries. This particular model (SX 160) was not actually listed by some vendors as a newer model (SX 170) was released. I read Revain, John Sturgeon's detailed 3 star review of the SX 170 and in it he talks about a battery problem. He pointed out that if you use regular rechargeable batteries ($20) and your camera fails, your warranty will be void. for using a cheaper generic. Personally, I would never go on an excursion on vacation without a spare battery. So you're paying around $120 for a camera that will cost you $46 plus tax and shipping so you have a backup. It's like buying a $200 printer only to find out later that you have to spend $90 to replace the cartridges ONCE. which I believe caused the person to gain about the equivalent of 148mm. After reading this review I started looking for dealers to get the SX 160 from. I bought one for a friend for Christmas and one for myself. This is my rear view camera. I don't know yet if the color purity meets my expectations. It's winter now and the colors in the bushes, trees and lawns are pretty dull right now. I tried to photograph the cardinal but I have to do it through the window as he is quite sensitive and won't stay close even if he can see me through the glass too well which really lowers the quality of the images . a photo. I think it's worth the price just for the battery issue! The SX 170 is cheaper at the moment than the price I paid for this lower model. I strongly recommend using Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries. I am currently using non-rechargeable ones and they are around $16 for a pack of 8. For 1/3 the price of 1 name brand battery you can buy 12 pairs of these batteries which Energizer guarantees will not damage your gear. A rechargeable version of these batteries was recently introduced but I have not used them. Personally, I would stress that at the end of each day when you are on vacation, you need to recharge your batteries and make sure you have more.
