WARNING! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 - Slate I originally bought this mouse because prior to my purchase of wireless mice, a wired receiver on the desktop didn't need to be too far from the mouse. This setup was a little unreliable as the mouse would not function properly if something was physically placed between the mouse and the receiver. (Why would anyone expect this to happen on a cluttered desk?). I liked the features of this device. The receiver is no larger than a flash drive and plugs directly into a USB port. The mouse itself is smaller than many others and feels good in the hand. (Although it's designed for a laptop, I use it for my desktop - it's the perfect size for me). It works flawlessly. Initially, this mouse looked good, worked well and was well made. It's not very well done. Based on experiences and reports from other reviewers, it will soon start to run intermittently. Often it seems slow and I need to get it closer to the receiver. Sometimes this improves signal acquisition. Often this is not the case. Nothing is more frustrating than an occasional working device, especially one that needs a computer running all the time. Microsoft knows how to make a product better and they should be ashamed.
