Review on Grout-Eez Ultimate Grout Cleaner: Effortless, Powerful, and Safe for All Grout Types. by Doug Hawkins

We have white ceramic tile and grout in the bathroom. It had been ten years since we had cleaned it thoroughly and it was very dirty. I chose this cleaner based on its star rating and comparing it to other products available. I applied the cleaner exactly as directed. When I finished my first section (test section) and allowed the joint compound to dry after washing with water, I was extremely disappointed with the results. I had to clean the same area THREE TIMES to get an acceptable result. I didn't expect the grout to be like new, but I know I can achieve a lighter shade of grey. When I let it soak for 10 minutes and started shaking it with a brush, the product was already dry and just a sticky film. Also, the squeeze bottle nozzle uncontrollably poured more onto the tile than desired or wasted no product at all. I had to apply more product and not leave it on long enough to stir up the material. The results of the first two of the three runs were marginal at best. I tried 2 other products and then finally LA's Totally Awesome Cleaner and Degreaser. This product worked great. I presoaked for 6 minutes, mixed the grout and tiles, then rinsed with clean water. The liquid stayed damp which gave me more time to work before drying. It took me ONE pass to get the results I was hoping for and overall the material was easier to clean. I paid $20 for Grout-Eez, which is triple what I paid for the same amount of Totally Awesome Cleaner from LA at $7 a bottle. Every cleaner I've tried has satisfactorily cleaned the tile itself as it is smooth and texture free. This is only the second negative review for a product for me, but I felt that the results this product claims are misrepresented. I'm throwing away the rest of the $19 item. As you would expect, I would not recommend this product to anyone.
