I have a previous model that required you to press a button on the top to grind salt or pepper. This new theme fixes some of the issues I had with the old theme. At first, all you have to do is tilt the container and the grinding will start automatically, leaving your other hand free. Second, debris is left behind on the raised sides of the countertop - on the previous model, debris clogged the countertop. Finally, it is very easy to simply change the grind location for coarser or finer grinds - in the past this was difficult once the gap was set. As a side note, it's also a lot easier now to change batteries or fill up the reservoir, which is now about 2x larger. I would recommend this stylish grind as a gift to anyone and of course to the one you consider a gift to yourself.
