BAD BAD BAD TOASTER

This toaster looked promising at first glance: small, retro in design, but big enough for four slices of toast. With no temperature control and only a timer that advances the time (30 minutes), the bread will burn if you're not careful and are still half asleep in the morning. If you can catch the toast before it burns, you'll notice that the bread is toasted unevenly (appears to be heavily toasted on top and barely toasted on the bottom). And since there is no temperature control, nothing can be heated either. The oven also takes some time to heat up, so you'll need to time your toast carefully: if you don't set the timer long enough, the pearl won't be toasted; Setting it too high will burn the toast. So after some trial and error, you'll need to decide where to set the timer to prevent toast from fading or burning. Finally, the timer rings and turns off the oven, but it keeps ticking. The grille pops out when you open the door (a nice touch), but it doesn't stay attached to the spring that allows it to slide out. To solve this problem I wire tied the jamb to the door hinge which prevents me from removing the jamb now to clean the crumbs from the inside of the door when it is open. And the rack must be tied with wire, otherwise it will not stand still. The controls are labeled with poorly designed symbols (must have been created by a cryptographer). You can set top and bottom browning, or top browning, or bottom browning, or no browning at all (why that option exists is beyond me). Toasters from China, maybe that explains it. After all, the Chinese aren't famous for their toast. It has a crumb tray (another good feature), but it has a very sharp sponge (which you pull out with this sponge) that goes under the door, which - if you're not careful - you could cut yourself wiping crumbs from the countertop. You should always be on guard with this toaster too. Overall I'd say it's a bad, bad, bad toaster ("sniff" is the wrong word - "cunning" is better). My advice: buy an American.
