The thing is clunky but I think that's the point. I've tried other mouthguards that weren't as bulky and they didn't help either. It fits my mouth well. I have SEVERE TMJ as well as multiple cranial and facial neuropathies and lifting significantly increases the pain in my face, head and neck. I used it for the first time today during a lifting session and it really helped with my pain. I had minimal pain upon waking for the first time in a year and I can't even believe how little pain I have! I highly recommend this if you have TMD.
