Review on Van Heusen Stretch-Fit Shirts by Lance Story

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Below average quality at an average price.

I purchased this shirt as part of the groom's attire for a wedding I attended recently. I have a few comments: Pros: Fits well for the price, affordable. The slim fitting shirt fitted well and looked great with a tank top. Cons: Almost see-through, absolutely requires a tank top (my farm tan shows through the sleeves). The quality is a bit on the bad side. The threads holding the buttons began to unravel after being worn and washed once. However this may be unique to this particular shirt as I own several other Van Heusen shirts and they do not have this issue. Also, I would recommend sticking with this particular shirt as it is very, very light and easy to open. I was the only friend who wore a corset, and I was the only one who didn't have to constantly tuck his shirt in the back. All in all, for $20 this is a comfortable shirt. If there were any reassurance that the loose thread on the buttons issue was unique to my shirt (although admittedly it's just poor build quality) I would consider buying again. However, Banana Republic and J.Crew consistently sell similar t-shirts of much better quality for a comparable price ($18-25). I would explore other options before shooting in this shirt.
