Review on πŸ’» MSI B460M-A PRO ProSeries Motherboard (mATX, 10th Generation Intel Core, LGA 1200 Socket, DDR4, M.2 Slot, USB 3.2 Generation 1, 2.5G LAN, DVI/HDMI) by Kyle Deel

Limited PCI-E Gen 3

This motherboard advertised high-speed M.2, but that's not true at all. This motherboard has 2x PCI-E Gen3 x1. And PCI-E Gen3 x16. If you connect a graphics card, you're limited to 2x PCI-E Gen3 x1, which equates to 1x PCI-E Gen3 x2, not enough for the vast majority of M.2 SSDs, which fundamentally require PCI-E Gen3 x4. Also, if you're connecting an HDD, you're already using a PCI-E Gen3 x1, which further limits the M.2 slot to just PCI-E Gen3 x1, which doesn't even make sense to use an M2 SSD at this point .
