Review on 🍵 Breville BTM800XL Stainless Steel Tea Maker by Lindsay Campbell

Bought to replace a Breville glass kettle which I liked despite constant problems with the lid (complete failure of the auto-off function became a kicker). I liked the idea of setting it to auto brew in the morning, as well as the keep warm feature. PRO: Set it up, press a button and it does the rest. You have a little more time in the morning for other things. Things. The standard brew programs brew very weak tea (using high quality loose leaf) BUT it is very easy to set the custom brew button to your liking. If you need as much help as possible, Pre-Caffeine might be for you. CONS: Plastic smell. It's been almost a month and it hasn't improved. Possibly a deal breaker. Also pretty useless is the "Keep Warm" function: if the temperature of the tea/water drops below 112, it apparently turns off automatically. It seems to be going fast. So it doesn't really help warm up and will most likely turn itself off when you come back for a second cup. Boo.UPDATE: 5 months later, plastic smell/taste is still ruining my tea. The tea made from it has never tasted as good as the tea I brewed with a stainless steel filter. Given that the "Warm up" feature barely works, this isn't a good thing. I relive the disappointment every morning. I look forward to the day it breaks so I can get rid of it without feeling guilty.
