As a newbie to polymer clay I found this set very useful. Although I wasn't thrilled with the disk that came with it. In the picture it looks like fairly clear acrylic but it appears to be matte plastic and very thin. Despite that, I gave this product a 5 because for a beginner the tools that come with it are still worth it. I mostly carve on a table covered with wax paper anyway, but I can use a small white clay slab to keep it from getting dirty. I hope this review helps new people like me make the right decision. You won't be disappointed (unless you need a large slab for your drawings).
