Convenient 3-port peripheral switcher

This is a pretty handy 3-port switch, with one port for USB-C and two for more traditional devices. I think they really should have added another traditional port - I can't imagine it would have taken much. useful. ♦ There is a USB-C connector on the front panel for connecting a DisplayPort Alternate Mode device. ♦ There are 2 HDMI inputs with corresponding USB-A 2.0 connectors for PCs, media players etc. ♦ There is 1 HDMI output. ♦ There are two peripheral USB ports -A 2.0 for the devices you want to share (wireless keyboard, flash drive, printer, etc.). If you're only switching video, you don't need to connect to the USB-A ports on ports 2 and 3. However, if you want to share peripherals, do so. Note that anything connected to the peripheral ports will be disconnected/reconnected when switching between devices. This can be important when transferring large files - you cannot switch to another port while it is still reading/writing without interrupting the transfer and possibly even damaging the flash drive. All HDMI ports are HDMI 2.0. and HDCP 2.2 compliant. They support a maximum resolution of 4k at 60 Hz and transmit audio (compatible with DTS HD, Dolby and TrueHD). The USB-C port does support charging/powering your device, but only at 1.5 amps. The switch itself is powered by a 3A USB charger (included) with a micro USB connector. Since USB-A peripheral ports can power peripherals, I seriously wonder if a 3 amp USB charger will do. When switching between ports, the switch takes a few seconds to analyze and synchronize the signals, so expect a delay. Seems like about 5 seconds. During testing, there were no connection issues when switching between devices and using peripherals, but I had limited test equipment. The only thing I was unhappy with was the lack of an on/off button for the switch itself. You have to toggle it to turn it off or reset it. Things I'm happy with include the USB-C and traditional device support, the ability to share peripherals (especially wireless keyboard/mouse), the ease of use, and the compact size. .Besides the criticisms/issues I've already addressed, the price is fair but not great and the device feels pretty cheap. While I generally like the switch and would recommend it to those who want a simple switch, there is still room for improvement. I give this 4 stars.

Pros
  • 4K 2.0a (18Gb/s) 2 HDMI inputs + 2 USB ports and 1 USB-C port for 2 outputs Matrix switcher - supports the highest video resolution up to 4K x 2K at 60Hz), EDID bypass, Full 3D and HDCP2.2 complaint.
Cons
  • May damage
