Review on 🎧 Premium Wireless Earphones - Bang & Olufsen Earset in Graphite Brown by Carl Estell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Bang & Olufsen offers an excellent evolutionary upgrade

My first encounter with B&O headphones was the wired Earset in the 90's. The sound, comfort, and design were so amazing that two decades later it's still my favorite device (yes, they've lasted that long!). I have a couple of in-ear headphones that sound good, but I'm not always a fan of the in-ear feel and noise-cancelling effect. When I was looking for an alternative, I came across the new Wireless Earset. Since Revain was priced about 60% below MSRP I was excited and ready to try them. You didn't disappoint us. Sound. The Earset headphones are exceptional in terms of sound. However, there is a certain subjectivity in this statement. B&O devices tend to produce incredible bass and a slightly warmer sound. Some may prefer their audio to be a bit more defined. While I'm not a fan of electronic settings, the Beo Play app supports Earset and is very easy to use. This allows you to tailor the listening mode to your preferred mix. I prefer to leave it centered, but again that's personal preference. Comfort: In terms of comfort, I like the fit and I have no issues with it. Retro-style foam overlays ensure a secure fit and block out a fair amount of ambient noise. An adjustable ear hook gives them even more stability. Even with moderate practice, they never came loose and don't seem to come loose. These things are pretty hefty, but they're supported so well that there aren't any noticeable comfort issues. They quickly become invisible. Phone quality: Several reviews criticize the quality of the phone. Again, I have no reported problems with it. I even asked the callers and they couldn't find any quality issues. Several reviews also criticize the length of the cable connecting the two earbuds. I found it sufficient. If you feel the neck is too tight, just stretch it forward. But the length suits me. As long as the microphone isn't next to your mouth, it probably isn't necessary. The call quality is good and Siri is happy. Controls: I agree with some reviews that say the 3 buttons on the mic/control rod are too small. You have to rub it with your finger a little to make sure you hit the right one. I wish B&O had thought this through a little better. But after a little practice I seem to have learned how to do it. Build Quality: The design and build quality are amazing. Not only from a physical point of view, but also from a technical point of view. I expect they will continue to work well and sound great for some time to come. Summary: While it's true that given my longstanding relationship with their ancestor, I really wanted them to please me, they far exceeded my expectations. They are certainly of great value at the current selling price. The battery life is specified as 5 hours, but can drop to 4 hours depending on the listening volume. For long flights I still need EarPods and a charging case. But for a 4-5 hour charge, that's not scary. I also wish they came with a better bag. The previous set has a beautiful sculpted leather case; This new model comes with a cloth pouch that I probably don't trust to toss in my bag. In general, I buy headphones to enjoy real musical immersion. Comfort, technology and sound quality of the Earset headphones are unsurpassed for me. I just don't have enough annoying factors to give them anything less than a solid 5 stars.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Requires an outlet
