These gorgeous, silky curtains block out the southern sun all day and they're thick enough to act as insulation on our windows. They exceeded my expectations. Love the quality. If you sleep during the day and like a pitch black room, you may want to invest in flat panels (or blinds, or the like) to install inside the window frame in order to keep the light from coming through the curtain rod and the wall. Sweet dreams!
