the thing is not plug and play at all. It fits my Mazda very well and has a decent finish. They allow you to reuse the OEM lower leg clips so they snap into place like a stock radio, but you have to be careful when removing them. But to install an aftermarket head unit/deck/radio in this fairing you will need to use the metal grommet (insert) that comes with new radios when you buy them and bend all the little tabs so the grommet is tight in place. The problem is that this causes stress on the fairing due to the weight on the back of the main unit pulling on the fairing. Therefore, you need to attach some straps behind the case (there are 2 screws there) holding the back of the device. Or put something under the main unit, if the floor can rest on something, make sure you don't block the vents on the main unit when you do this. I have a 2007 Mazda 3 and the LCD can still work after removing the OEM radio. since they have their own connection. This means I have to cut the plastic piece from above to see it. Older models didn't have their own connector, and the LCD was obsolete when you removed the OEM radio, so Scosche put a piece of plastic in there to block them out. They didn't bother to make another model for the 2007-2009 Mazda 3. You'll also need to make some sort of custom bracket to hold the LCD screen in place if you want to keep it. All in all it's an OK unit for a pre 2007 Mazda 3, especially for all the work you have to do to keep the LCD visible and in place. I think I'd rather buy a device with a double din connector as it has brackets on both sides to attach the head unit and a pocket for a more secure hold. I'll end up with a little empty space between them, but the whole thing will feel more secure and solid. But the problem with the LCD display remained.
