you have to be careful with tonics, lots of dry ones, exactly the opposite of what my skin needs. I have found that 9 Wishes leaves my skin soft and smooth while prepping it for the serum and moisturizer. Has no unpleasant cosmetic odor. It applied easily with a cosmetic pad and didn't dry or hurt my skin.
