Very simple and easy to use. You only measure resistance, and the tester comes with 4 different termination plugs, each with a different resistance. Easy to trace cables in good condition. If the cable has a defect that causes a change in resistance, the instrument may give incorrect readings. I used this tool to track down old RG59 cables in a 40 year old house. There were weird splinters in the house that really skewed the readings. I had to unplug all power strips throughout the house before I could get an accurate reading. Once that was done it was easy to trace the cables.
