These are high quality wooden toys that appear to be hand painted. The animals are very cute and it is interesting for children and adults to stack them on top of each other. Our 9 month old loves to play with them when he's by our coffee table and we use them as an opportunity to teach him the names of the woodland animals and their sounds. He takes great pleasure in playing with them, even if at that moment he mainly bangs them on the table or throws them. If you're looking for a quality wooden toy (and hate electronic/cheap plastic toys), you can't go wrong with this set. The Andes set also looks cute and will be fun to add later.
