Electronics work on I/O boards

I give it 5 stars simply because it works at all because I went in with no expectations. Based on other reviews this seems to work, depends a lot on the hardware so I'll describe what I did: I converted a 2012 Alienware X51 to a new case after the original PSU died and the mini PCIe network wanted to discard card and bulky antennas in favor of USB 3.0. The WiFi adapter when using this card gave me a net gain of 1 USB 3.0 slot. It was a good idea in theory, but the slots this card manages are a little questionable. I haven't bothered to quantify their performance, but they seem to shut down and throttle when both ports are in use. C'mon - still delivers 5v to anything I can charge or power and can be used to access flash drives. I don't know if I would risk using it for an external hard drive. All in all, a potentially (and perhaps partially) useful addition to older hardware at a reasonable price, although it appears to have gone up $5 since purchase.

  • Don't waste too much time
