Lid and product thickness questionable

While we liked the look of this bread bin, it just fell short in terms of thickness and fit. It is very cheaply made of very thin pewter; so cheap that the lid only fits properly after the shape of the box was manually formed while the lid was placed on top. Even then, the hassle of removing the lid, setting aside, taking out the bread, and putting the lid back on seems pretty impractical. We will look for another more durable product with the lift cap attached. But like I said, from a distance everything looked fine.
