It works great but installation can be tricky

I've read a lot of reviews and as far as I can tell most of the negative reviews apart from the actual hardware flaw on the box itself seem to be like that lousy assembly instructions lie. After decoding, however, it is not difficult. The instructions say to double-click the Control (CTRL) key, press the hotkey, and press Enter. Double-click/tap the CTRL key. don't click. Follow the instructions carefully. Turn off the computers you are connecting and make sure KVM is turned off. Once everything is connected, plug everything back in - the order doesn't matter. Regardless of the operating system, you'll likely need to make some adjustments to your multi-monitor setup. I have 3 monitors and had to swap them out for both my windows laptop and my mac mini. The setup didn't go smoothly either. One keyboard worked, the other didn't. The mouse pointer moved over the Mac, but registered no clicks. The manual that came with KVM helped me by telling me how to reset KVM (press CTRL twice, press R and then Enter in my case) - everything worked fine after the reset. Switching between machines is easy. USB headset and webcam switch normally. Analog sound works from both machines. I should also note that I bought the HDMI version. Both devices I have have only one HDMI port. Mac is USB-C and laptop dock is DisplayPort (DP++ passive) and DP to USB-C. I bought USB-C to HDMI and DisplayPort to HDMI cables and connected them to the inputs on the KVM. Make sure you understand the output ports on your computers - some DisplayPorts require an always-on adapter or if you're using multiple monitors. Overall I am very happy with this KVM. It does exactly what I hoped it would. Any problems I encountered during installation were due to the limitations of the hardware I was connecting to.
