This little stand is made of durable plastic. The rubber pads are well attached and seem to stay in place. My 16 inch laptop weighs 2.4 kg (5.3 lb) and the stand supports it without flexing. The hinge is rigid and requires two hands to open. It may loosen over time, but it's better to be too hard than not enough. I don't see an easy way to re-tighten it if it loosens over time. Shiny end caps appear to have snapped into place. But for the tablets and small laptops it's designed for, it does exactly what it's supposed to.
