Good Things: Oil System Tools

A very underrated tool but essential to get the job done properly. I have a 2011 Land Rover LR4 and wanted to do my own maintenance to save hundreds of people from oil change theft. .Tools: Socket wrench Mityvac 7400 Fluid Extractor This adapter is 90mm long. Details: Oil filter (MAHLE Original OX 774D oil filter) Oil (I used Royal Purple fully synthetic oil, 8 liters). It's a 90mm oil filter wrench, a Mahle oil filter and of course oil. Hidden under the LR4 oil cap is a nipple to which the Mityvac connects directly. Bleed the Mityvac until all the oil is gone, remove the oil filter with an oil filter socket, change the oil filter, replace the oil filter cap, add oil, check the oil level via the dashboard menu screen and top up with oil if necessary. . Be aware that ALL newer Land Rovers don't have dipsticks and I felt like I had a dipstick for not knowing. To test the LR4 in park (P) position, press the start button (without starting the vehicle), select the service menu and select oil level. This should tell you if you need to add more oil. The whole process took less than 20 minutes without getting too messy. The oil filter cover fits tight without damaging anything. This thing is solid and beefy, unlike the cheaper units I've used on other vehicles in the past.
