Learn to use it and it works.

Not quite a tricorder, but does a good job of scanning walls. However, it really helps to work through the tutorial videos. I would like them to offer an online tutorial that teaches you about each of the items presented with the virtual device. But if you do that, it usually works. One problem is that it doesn't detect the gaps between the detected object and the drywall (or other substance) you're looking through. Also, materials like plywood can confuse or obscure deeper readings. All in all, if you take the time to learn how to use it (expect at least an hour at first, and another 15 minutes if you don't use it for a while), it works fine most of the time. My only other comment concerns the upper and lower wheels. are connected to each other so that it is too easy to rotate the device easily. Switching to a connected wheel or chain improves the ability to keep a straight line, but again, be careful when using substitutes for this missing feature.

Pros
  • DISPLAY: Equipped with an easy-to-read color display to show the depth and position of the target, as well as the detection mode and strength. Maximum detection depth (plastic tube filled with water) 2 to 3/8 inch (60 mm)
Cons
  • Available in white only
