When received, the vibration sensor was too sensitive. I won't leave my bike knowing that if someone accidentally trips over it (because of the loud alarm) it could become public property. I tried reducing the vibration sensitivity by pressing and holding 4, which only produced a fast and loud beep that indicated no change in vibration sensitivity. So I returned it. UPDATE 03/14/2020: After returning the defective device one day later, I received a new device. The replacement is not defective. Settings to change the vibration sensitivity function as described in the manual. Although I like this bike lock/alarm now for low risk public use, I suggest doing some thorough testing in your home to learn some beep codes and what to expect. Here are a few things I learned: 1. Vibration is very sensitive at all three sensitivity levels. I started it by intentionally walking hard alongside the bike even though it was on a hardwood floor and not the dirt or pavement where it's typically parked outside. One good thing: the VERY LOUD alarm will stop after a few seconds, at least once the vibration has stopped. Still potentially intimidating to the innocent bystander.2. Practice unlocking the alarm with a 4-digit password. It also works if you enter the correct password, but only for a very short time, at least if your password is correct. So don't panic; Just quickly type the rest of the password and press the button in the middle.3. Vibration can be switched off. Consider doing this in low-risk, high-traffic areas. This alarm is ideal for quick installation in low risk public areas. Purchase a stronger lock for remote, nighttime, or other high-risk situations. I suspect that a well-armed and determined thief, undeterred by the public stigma, could make short work of this lock.
