Review on StayGo USBC Travel: Twelve South's Ultimate Solution for Portable USB-C Connectivity by Rick Rogers

Solid basic USB-C hub (but no USB-C ports)

Aside from much more expensive hubs that include Thunderbolt 4 and USB-C ports, this is a good device for what it is does based on my experience with the 2020 Macbook Pro M1. I haven't had any bandwidth issues. It gets warm but not too hot. USB-A Power works without any problems. Since I don't have an HDMI monitor, I couldn't test it. I was surprised to find that the ethernet port connected at 100Mbps no matter what I tried (including forcing 1000Mbps mode in my Macbook's ethernet adapter settings). ). However (much to my surprise) it immediately started connecting at 1 Gb/s and tested the speed at my ISP's maximum fiber speed (via two 1 Gb/s Ethernet switches and Cat 5 home wiring) – almost 900 Mb/s and down - just after I swapped the Cat 5 ethernet cable from the hub to the ethernet switch. The cable appeared to be of good quality, but this hub can be sensitive to cable quality for some reason. This may be an issue in some other reviews. In any case, I give the Ethernet port full marks. Form factor and short USB-C cable for laptop and included longer USB-C cable for landline/office connection. Usage makes it a uniquely attractive little hub in this price range. Of course we would like cheaper hubs with USB-C ports, but they are still significantly more expensive and in short supply. I recommend.
