Review on Seachem PhosGuard 100 mL Bagged - Product Review, Benefits, and Usage Guide by Darcy Thorson

Great filter media but make sure it has good water flow

This product works as described and I recommend it to others. I've had a problem with phosphates in my saltwater pool for a while. at work because some of my macroalgae collapsed and decomposed in a place I couldn't get to. I also had, unbeknownst to me, a reverse osmosis/deionization filter system that didn't pull all of the phosphate out of my make-up water. In the end, I was able to get a better handle on the problem with PhosGuard. This is good because the excess phosphate was actually feeding some of the hair algae that had developed in my tank. The only thing to keep in mind about this product is that it really needs to be in a place where the water in the medium can circulate well. . I haven't had much luck in applications where there isn't much flow going directly through PhosGuard. Depending on prices at the time of purchase, you may also be able to save money by purchasing a PhosGuard sachet and buying larger quantities of PhosGuard. Once I did the math it cost about the same to just buy these 100ml packs, but the next time I needed the packs it was cheaper to buy a pack and a large bottle of PhosGuard. Of course, the price varies a bit. That being said, I recommend it to others trying to keep phosphate under control.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
