I was looking for a way to stream video from my drone's DSLR to my tablet. When testing, I used my cable box as the source. It turns out there's an easy (but probably a bit expensive) way to broadcast cable TV videos over my home network using VLC. Now I can output the video stream to a window on my desktop, watch it on Apple TV or on my phone. Latency isn't too bad, although buffering does cause sync issues between devices. So if this is an issue, you should look elsewhere. Temporary glitches do occur from time to time and the picture can look a little dark so it probably won't drive your 4K UHD monitor, but for just watching the news or other content in the background it's good enough.
