Coasters have one function - to sit even under hot things. It doesn't seem very difficult. They must be designed for heat. In the photos they looked like solid cast iron. When they arrived and saw that they were coated I assumed it would at least be powder coated, glazed or at least high temp enamel. It turns out to be black color. When I first set the pan on a stand, the paint melted and turned into a sticky goo that took a lot of effort to scrape off the pan. If it was a simple iron I could at least season them in like my cast iron cookware and they would work flawlessly for a lifetime. Buy something else.
