I use this in the front and rear differentials and transfer case on my '88 Toyota Land Cruiser. I didn't service them for a few years (my fault but I had a horrible divorce and a very nasty custody battle that I had for several years) and when I finally did the dinosaur oil I drained was BLACK and viscous. Fortunately, there are no metal shavings, excessive noise, or noticeable vibration. I serviced them at Schaeffer, drove a few hundred miles, then emptied and serviced again. The oil has turned dark again from picking up all the dirt that has accumulated there, but the last fill is still clean which tells me all the old dirt is gone. I've found my transmission to be much smoother, especially in 4WD. As I said, the sound wasn't so loud that I thought there was a problem, but Schaeffer really helped smooth it out. I also use this All-Trans in my Land Cruiser transmission with great results. Runs much cooler and shifts nice and crisp. I will be using their GL-4 certified gear oil in the 5 speed when I switch to my setup in the spring.
