This is a well made dotted-paper journal and it will open completely and lay flat, which is a nice feature for taking notes or sketching. I would point out that though the paper in this journal is pretty heavy at 100 gsm, there are other journals available with even thicker 120 gsm paper. Which you prefer is up to you, but with this journal I would avoid water-based media or inks or pens that are prone to soak through paper, and stick with ballpoints or gel pens and pencils. It has an elastic band to hold it closed, and an elastic pen/pencil loop. It also has three placeholder ribbons, a nice touch. Another nice touch is the pocket on the inside of the back cover is expandable.
