To be honest we bought this two years ago when our dog was a puppy and loved it. After he was potty we didn't use him for a while after the first 6 months. We kept it in the closet for several months. About a year later my wife wanted to use it for something and it was dead. She put it back in and pulled it out a few times since and couldn't figure out how to change the batteries. Today she gave me a change and I found out why she can't change it. The inside of the flashlight was completely rusted to the point of freezing the battery compartment. It even rusts under the headlights. It has never been outside and does not appear to have died but rather corroded. In my opinion, you shouldn't just use it for 2-3 months.
