Review on Derwent Super Point Mini Handheld Pencil Sharpener (2302000) by Shantel Griffin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Makes incredibly sharp pencils.

I'll rewrite my review of this sharpener and give it five stars instead of four. This is a fantastic sharpener that makes my colored pencils razor sharp. It works best with harder small pencils but can also sharpen softer graphite pencils if you are careful. My main issue with this, and what originally made me give it four stars, is that the sponges on the part that holds the pencil firmly to the sharpener seem to lose a bit of grip over time. But while I think that's partly true, the main problem is that pencil points break at the back of the sharpener. It says more about the quality of the pencil I had than anything else, but it's very annoying. I also don't think I've ever had a problem with Polychromos or high quality hard graphite pencils. However, I had problems with some prism colors. Their blades break in the sharpener and you have to disassemble them to get them out or they won't work. You must treat them with care and understand that this is their nature. This also applies to cheaper pencils of all kinds. If you have a pencil like Crazy Art, Crayola, etc., it's a throw where you'll get a good score. This pencil sharpener is mainly suitable for professional pencils or at least high quality student pencils. With that in mind, this is a 5 star sharpener.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Damaged
