Putting this disc in wasn't much fun. I was expecting to have to change circuit boards, but there were a few issues. My old drive's circuit board was not the same size or configuration as the new one. The main problem was that the new drive's circuit board had a ribbon cable coming from the motor that spins the drive, while the old drive had the wires soldered directly to the circuit board. What I did was take the motor off the old drive and put it on the new drive. It wasn't difficult, the holes matched perfectly. After that, everything was pretty straight forward. There are two switches that are soldered directly onto the board. One is an open/close push button and the other is an open/close limit switch or optical sensor. There are also three wires going to the stepper motor that drives the laser assembly. Make sure you mark the location of all these wires on the new and old board as in my case they were not the same on the two boards. To be honest I didn't expect it to actually work when I was done but to my surprise it worked! It's worth buying, but you should be prepared to spend some time learning it and knowing how to solder.
